Know More About Us
POP is mandated to empower and mobilize youth, women and children through various initiatives focused on educational attainment, skill development, and socio-economic opportunities. As a registered NGO, POP adheres to the regulatory frameworks established by the Malawi Government and is recognized by the Council for Non-Governmental Organizations in Malawi (CONGOMA) and duly registered by the NGO Regulatory Authority (NGORA). The organization’s mandate, outlined in its constitution, emphasizes its objectives, operational structure and strategic priorities.
In its formative years, POP concentrated on short-term projects across Malawi, leveraging a network of local clubs in villages and schools. These efforts were steered by the Board of Trustees and the Secretariat, which played a crucial role in short-term planning and project execution. A transformative shift occurred in 2008, catalyzed by an institutional capacity assessment conducted. This assessment identified the need for increased financial support and a strategic transition from short-term planning to the development of comprehensive strategic plans. The goal was to create a structured framework for both immediate actions and long-term objectives, enhancing POP’s impact and sustainability.
In January 2023, POP rebranded from Network for Youth Development to Point of Progress, reflecting the organization’s evolved mission and broader scope. This rebranding underscores POP's commitment to promote positive change through youth empowerment and community development. POP continues to facilitate learning and knowledge exchange among youth, women and children through different interventions.
