This is a project that aims at reducing poverty among women by improving their political participation and household income through sustainable businesses. The project mobilises poor and marginalised women who cannot afford to support their families into groups of 15-20 members (Self Help Groups), where they grow their business capital by saving the little resources that they may have and further access loans to improve their social economic status. SHG uses rotational leadership and each meeting consists of social discussions through which women become actively engaged citizens on issues of child protection as well as participation in political spaces within their communities. NfYD is implementing Self Help Group Approach in Chiradzulu district, Traditional authority Mpama with support from Kindernothilfe.
