YOUNG WOMEN CAN DO IT PROGRAM(YWCDI)

This is a project that inspires young women (girls) to have a voice, develop problem-solving and decision-making skills, in –order to create visionary change and realize their full potential within their communities. It envisions communities where women with strong voices become active leaders and passionately engaged citizens, impacting not only their communities but also their entire country as young women become informed and participating citizens in their civic, political, and cultural communities.

YWCDI addresses the very heart of issues confronting young women and those that affect their wellbeing – increasing confidence in their own voice and convictions, developing life-skills,and improving the ability to identify paths and resources within their communities that can contribute to positive change and break cycles for a lifetime. Through the project young people are mobilised in groups of forty members of which 75 percent of the participants are young women and 25 percent are young men (boys). The project is been/was implemented in Nkhatabay Mzimba and Machinga districts with support from the Development Fund of Norway.
